Romeo and juliet​ scene summary

Act 1:

Scene 1: Fighting breaks out in-between the Capulets and montages and gets told that if it happens again their life will pay the price.

Scene 2: Paris wants to marry Juliet and old Capulet invites him to a family ball and he sends out a servant to give the invites out and asks Romeo and Benvolio to read it out for him.

Scene 3: Lady Capulet tells Juliet and her nurse about Paris and his proposal of marriage.

Scene 4: Benvolio and Mercutio persuade Romeo to join them in the masquerade.

Scene 5: Romeo meets Juliet, Tybalt wants to start a fight but Capulet restrains him.

Act 2:

Scene 1: Romeo hides from his friends, who joke about his love for rosaline.

Scene 2: Romeo has lost his heart, and Juliet sighs out about her new love unaware that Romeo is listening, Romeo reveals himself and they decide to have Juliet’s nurse as there go-between.

Scene 3: Friar Lawrence is persuaded to marry Romeo and Juliet.

Scene 4: Benvolio and Mercutio discuss Tybalt’s challenge, and Romeo joins in their laughter.

Scene 5: The nurse returns and juliet whats to hear it and thendeparts.

Scene 6: Juliet comes to Romeo in Friar Laurence’s cell, and they greet each other joyfully. The Friar prepares to marry them

Act 3

Scene 1: Benvolio and Mercutio encounter Tybalt and Mercutio is killed then Tybalt gets slain by Romeo and Romeo is banished

Scene 2: Juliet waits for the night when Romeo is to come and the Nurse brings her word of Tybalt’s death and Romeo’s banishment.

Scene 3: Romeo, in hiding with Friar Laurence, learns of the Prince’s edict and raves that death would be more merciful than life without Juliet and the nurse arrives with words from juliet.

Scene 4: Capulet ordains that Juliet, whose grief he finds excessive, shall be married to Paris in three days.

Scene 5: Romeo and juliet hav on last night together and then bid farewell.

Act 4

Scene 1: Paris talks to Friar Lawrence about the wedding and Juliet appears and needs to talk with the friar

Scene 2: As the Capulet household is busy with her wedding arrangements, Juliet appears and apologizes to her father, promising to obey him and marry Paris and Capulet moves the wedding forward a day.

Scene 3: Juliet wonders about the patio the friar gave her and then drinks the potion.

Scene 4: The next morning, the wedding day, the Capulet household is astir with last-minute preparations. Capulet sends the Nurse to awaken Juliet.

Scene 5: The nurse can’t arise Juliet and raises the alarm that she is dead.

Act 5

Scene 1: Balthasar arrives in Mantua with the news that Juliet is dead.

Scene 2: Friar John tells Friar Lawrence that he was unable to send the letter to Romeo

Scene 3: Romeo visits juliets tomb and then drinks the potion that he was given and seconds later juliet awakes and kills herself with romeos dagger.
